Dolphins & Whales Bestseller Book Tour Heads to New Mexico ~ 7

This is the seventh post from On the Road with Dolphins & Whales Forever book and event tour. To read the first post, visit this link.To read the additional posts, visit the links at the bottom of the page.

After saying our goodbye's to Roberta Goodman's aunt and uncle near Dallas, we headed into the heat and dryness of the American Southwest. We drove all day to get to Mountainaire, NM to spend a day or so with one of Roberta's good friends.

We stopped at a little local store just before it closed and purchased a few groceries for our stay in the high desert.

It was an extraordinary adobe home on the side of a hill on 80 acres. We were given a tour and engaged in fascinating conversation for the rest of the evening.

Sunrise in Mountainaire, NM

The next morning, I woke up with a migraine. Our host had been smoking and it set off my allergies. I spent most of the next day in and out of sleep downstairs trying to move past the migraine and catch up on some much needed rest after all our travels.

I was sound asleep when I suddenly heard Roberta yell and then I heard, "bam, boom, whack, thud." I bolted out of bed and ran as fast as possible to the next room to find Roberta lying on her back on the cement floor staring at the ceiling. She had fallen from the floor above through the trap door in the corner of the room and hit the kiva-type ladder all the way down. Some of her bruising was 8 inches across.

She spent much of the rest of the trip very sore and uncomfortable.

I took a little "dolphin trail" hike without Roberta, since she couldn't really walk at this point. I found little pottery dolphins all along the trail. It was a lovely hike and wonderful that the dolphins were there too!

Dolphins & Whales Forever Book Tour Heads to Mississippi and Texas ~ 6

This is the sixth post from On the Road with Dolphins & Whales Forever book and event tour. To read the first post, visit this link.To read the additional posts, visit the links at the bottom of the page.

After our unexpected overnight near Pirate's Cove, Cyndie Lepori led the way to her lovely home in Mississippi. We enjoyed hearing her produce Brad Simpkins' radio show.

The next day we headed to Texas and a night with Roberta's delightful aunt and uncle who live near Dallas. We got there 10 minutes before our radio interview with Cyndie was to begin. So with quick hellos to her aunt, we each got on the phone and enjoyed a little more time with Cyndie.

Here is the recording of Seas of Light with Cyndie, Roberta, and I:

Next up ... more unusual happenings along the way. This time the unexpected was pretty darn ugly!

Dolphins & Whales Forever Bestseller Book Tour Heads to Pirates Cove ~ 5

This is the fifth post from On the Road with Dolphins & Whales Forever book and event tour. To read the first post, visit this link.To read the additional posts, visit the links at the bottom of the page.

After our lovely time in Panama City, Cyndie Lepori led the way to Navarre and Pirate's Cove.

As we gathered in Pirates Cove to enjoy a meal with new friends, we had the great good fortune of dolphins coming to visit by swimming past right in front of our table for dinner. A mom and baby. Such a blessing.

With every grand adventure there is sometimes adversity. The first of such activity began in Pirates Cove.

After visiting Cyndie's boat, we got back in the car and started to drive away with the intention of driving to Cyndie's in Mississippi. My car sounded terrible - metal on metal screaming. We quickly pulled over and tried to figure out what to do. A nice police officer stopped and we asked him to listen to the noise. He said it was probably fine to drive to a nearby location for the night.

The new friends we had met at Pirate's Cove had invited us to stay for the night. We had to take them up on it. As soon as the decision was made to stay, the noise stopped. We headed to Walmart to purchase a few blow up mattresses and 5 women and 4 small dogs created a giant slumber party in a 1 bedroom apartment. It was pretty hysterical.

The next day we had the car checked out and everything was completely fine. I did have quite the discussion the next morning with one of the ladies and I'm fairly certain that was the reason we had been "inspired" to stay for the night.

Have a deLightful day,

Dolphins near Panama City - a Great Adventure For our Book Tour ~ 4

This is the fourth post from On the Road with Dolphins & Whales Forever book and event tour. To read the first post, visit this link.To read the additional posts, visit the links at the bottom of the page.

We were staying in the lovely dolphin / mermaid home of Linda Hess in Panama City. She arranged for us to rent a pontoon boat and head out to see the local dolphin pod.

We met up with a few dolphins and got in with them. Cyndie let me borrow her snorkel and fins. Had no luck capturing the dolphins on film.

Later that night we enjoyed a lovely gathering at Capstone House. What a delightful group of very special people. Cyndie, Roberta, and I each took turns speaking. The rest of the evening was spent talking one on one with the wonderful people in attendance, enjoying a lovely meal they had prepared, selling books and other products, and feeling quite blessed by the experience.

Thanks go to Cyndie for setting it up and Capstone House for hosting and to Linda Hess for offering us her delightful home to stay in for awhile.

Have a deLightful day,

After saying goodbye to friends in Aripeka, we headed to Sarasota to meet up with Mary J. Getten, her husband, and enjoy their lovely home there.

Once again it was my first time getting to meet Mary.

We enjoyed a visit to her favorite beach.

We also got to see manetees. I had never seen them before.

The Dolphins & Whales Forever Book Tour and Adventure Begins ~ 1

This is the first post for On the Road with the #1 bestseller, Dolphins & Whales Forever, book and event tour with Roberta Goodman and several other authors from the collaboration. Visit the links at the bottom of the page for the additional posts.

I headed out on Tuesday June 24th to drop off my son at the Charlotte, NC airport and to begin the 6-week book tour adventure with Dolphins & Whales Forever.

Things started off a bit rocky as his plane was delayed. All air traffic was delayed going through Dallas because of storms.

Plane Delay in Charlotte, NC

Once he was safely aboard, I started heading south. I ended up in a major traffic jam in I-26. Things were backed up for miles and I was caught up in the mess for 2 hours. After that I was too wiped out to keep driving. So I stopped for the night.

Welcome to Florida

The next day I arrived in FL and proceeded to drive almost all day making my way to Crystal River and Aripeka. There, I got to meet Roberta Goodman for the first time face to face. Roberta and I have known one another through email, phone, and skype for about 17 years or so. I've been her webmaster for about 10 years. So we were very excited to finally meet in person.

Aripeka, FL

We were staying at a place that does fishing charters

We spent the evening enjoying time and great conversation with two of Roberta's dear friends and one of the delightful mermaids of Weeki Wachee.

Roberta, Weeki Wachee mermaid, and her lovely daughter
Roberta's friends gave us a tour of the surrounding areas. We got to see the gulf from high atop a viewing stand at a park. While there we saw otters.

Have a deLightful day,
